Q&A: How soon after a loss can you get pregnant again?

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

I recently lost a baby mid January. I was in a car accident. I wanted to know how soon after delievery does ovulation occur? I have symptoms that I may be pregnant again nausea, sore breasts, and elevated bbt, is it possible to concieve so soon after a delievery?

It's probably too soon to be pregnant. However, depending how far pregnant you were after losing your baby, you may still have some hCG in your blood that could still give you a positive pregnancy test, confusing everyone. I am sorry for your loss, and it's hard not to fixate on trying to replace what you've lost, but it takes about 3 months to get over something like this enough to deal with it psychologicially, so I'd wait until then before aggressively trying to conceive again.
