Q&A: I stopped taking the Pill. Could I be pregnant?

by Marie O'Sullivan, RN

I am trying to conceive. I have been taking Ortho Novumm 777 for about 5 years. I stopped taking the pills in November, started taking the pills again in December. Took 3 days of pills in January and that''s it. I had a period January 9 thru January 14. It is now February 14 and I have not had a cycle yet. I was looking to start my period between the 9 or the 11th. I was having some lower back aches off and on and my stomach feels bloated off and on. I have taken 2 at home pregnancy test, one two weeks ago and one last week, both were negative, was it too early and is it possible I could be pregnant?

It could have been too early to detect a pregnancy when you did the tests. Try another test if you haven''t gotten your period yet. If that test is negative and you still did not get your period, contact your OB to schedule a blood pregnancy test.
