Q&A: My previous pregnancy resulted in a breech birth and I worry my next baby will be breech too.

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

My first baby's birth was a c-section because he was breech. My husband and I are planning our next pregancy but I am really frightned that my next baby will be breech again and I will once again have to have a c-section. What are the odds of my next baby also being breech?

It depends on the cause of the first breech. If your baby was breech because of your pelvic bone anatomy, you're more likely to repeat a breech presentation. But if you carried breech because your placenta was lower than typical, then that breech should have been a random presentation and not likely to repeat.
