Alternative Birth Methods on the Rise
According to the American College of Nurse-Midwive's fact sheet, the number of certified nurse-midwife (CNM)/certified midwife (CM)-attended births has risen nearly every year since 1989, which is the first year that CNM-attended birth statistics were reported. The number is rising as more and more mothers are choosing to give birth with a midwife, either at a hospital or at home, and as the Witmans show, part of the reasons families are choosing alternative birthing methods are economical.
