Q&A: I haven't felt my baby move in over a week. Any advice?

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

I started feeling my baby move at 11 weeks. This is my 4th pregnancy. I am now 19 weeks and haven't felt the baby in over a week. I heard that drinking orange juice will get the baby active. I did and that didn't work. Any advice??

Thank You!!

Any change in movement should be reported to your doctor. The OJ is just a sugar load, and will make the baby hyper, which you will feel as movement. It's unlikely that what you were feeling at 11 weeks was fetal movement, and since most fetal movement is first perceived at about 19-20 weeks, it may be that you just haven't felt it "first" at all yet. But still, I'd report this to your doctor.
