Q&A: I'm 7 weeks pregnant and having cramps. Is this normal?

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

I seem to be having these "phantom" cramps at the same time everyday. These cramps are achy, but I haven't seen any blood. This is my first pregnancy and I'm 7 weeks along. Other than my cramps, I seem to be having a normal pregnancy.

These are more than likely just "growing" pains, as your unborn baby grows and the sac pushes against the inside of your womb, there is a reactive contraction, perceived by you as cramps. In the absence of any bleeding, it's normal. But talk to your health care provider about your concerns.
