I am 12 weeks pregnant and the doctor could not hear the heart beat, so she did an ultrasound and saw the heart beat. Is that normal?

Hearing it loud or soft is not important, but just a matter of how well it's picked up. The rate is the important thing. As long as it's about 110 or greater at 12 weeks, that's normal.
