Q&A: Is it possible I feel my baby moving at 12 weeks pregnant?

by Marie O'Sullivan, RN

This may seem strange. I am 12 weeks and 1 day pregnant with my second child. I swear that I felt quickening (butterfly like) this past weekend which was around 11 wks 5 days. I had a ultrasound on Feb 1 when I was 10 weeks and 2 days. The baby was measuring at 11 weeks and 3 days then. I was wondering if it is possible for me to be feeling quickening at only 12 or 13 weeks or am I just crazy.

Quickening is usually felt between 16 and 20 weeks of pregnancy. Unfortunately, what you are probably feeling is the excess gas of pregnancy. This is what was explained to me when I also thought I felt quickening early on in my pregnancy.
