Q&A: Is low-dose aspirin safe during pregnancy?

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

Are there any side effects associated with taking low-dose (81 mg) aspirin daily begining after 11 weeks of pregnancy? The recommended use was due to varicose veins. Have you heard this used in pregnancy before?

I have heard of this, but would advise that you make sure to undertake this (or any) therapy only under the direction of your obstetrician or maternal-fetal medicine specialist.
