I'm only 4 weeks pregnant and before I knew I was pregnant I was in the middle of a colon cleanse. I was taking 4 capsules three times a day that contained: Psyllium Husk powder, Senna powder, along with small doses of Fennel seed, peppermint, papaya, Cascara Sagrada, Rose Hips, Buckthorm Bark, Barberry root, Celery and Acidophilus. I know that most if not all these ingredients are natural, but I also know that not everything that is natural is safe for pregnant women. I also wanted to know if I can take Ibuprofen, Aspirin, or Tylenol? I don't know if one is better than the other, or if I should stay clear of them.

Most if not all of the elements of a cleanse act on the intestinal tract alone. What does get through is probably inconsequential. Bring the list to your OB anyway, for your personal confirmation of my opinion. Stay away from Ibuprofen during pregnancy. Aspirin should be used only under the orders of your OB or Maternal Fetal specialist. Tylenol should be fine, as long as you don't take more than 3 grams a day--the equivalent of two extra strenght pills three times in one day.
