Q&A: Is it safe to drive in the third trimester?

by Marie O'Sullivan, RN

I'm almost 24 weeks pregnant. I'm wondering about driving in the third trimester. Is it safe for me to drive or should I have someone else take me places?

There is no reason why you should not drive yourself as long as your pregnancy has been normal and you feel well enough to drive. It may be more of an effort to get in and out of the car as your pregnancy progresses, but it should not interfere with you driving. Remember to always wear your seatbelt. If you have specific concerns about your pregnancy and driving, please talk them over with your OB-GYN.
