Q&A: Could Tylenol and antibiotics hurt my baby during pregnancy?

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

I am eight weeks pregnant and I had what I thought was a sinus infection. I was determined to let it run its course and not take any medication. Unfortuately, it evolved into a severe ear infection involving a trip to the ER. I am now taking tylenol and amoxicillan. I'm worried about having caused any harm to the fetus by not taking antibiotics sooner for my ear infection. Was that the case?

No, the biggest risk is to you. And the medicines you were prescribed are deemed safe in pregnancy.
