I have questions regarding toxoplasmosis. I am 26 weeks pregnant. First, my husband grilled lamb medallions during my first trimester and there was a bit of pink in the centre. Would that be considered undercooked and does it pose a risk? Second, I purchased "Cook's" Cured, Smoked PARTIALLY cooked ham steak (sealed package) last night and I assumed it was FULLY cooked. So I heated it in the microwave for 2 min. Unfortunately, my husband noticed it wasn't fully cooked. The instructions said to microwave for 4-5 min. Neither of us feel ill or have a temperature but I know that toxoplasmosis can take weeks to show up. Should I be concerned with the baby's health? I have been raised with cats from a young age as well. Is there a high chance I could already be immune to toxoplasmosis? Thank you so much for your response. I am so worried!!!

Usually anyone who's had cats is already immune to toxoplasmosis. A simple blood test can tell you not only whether you're immune, but whether you've recently been exposed if you're not immune. Ask your doctor about getting this blood work if you're worried. But anyone who has had cats as a child is more at risk from e. coli or other worries from undercooked meat.
