I suffer from migraines and back problems and am almost 9 weeks pregnant with my third child. My doctor said that I should not take my normal medication for migraines because it’s Class C. He gave me Vicodin extra strength, but that makes my head hurt even worse. Can I take Tylenol Codeine?

Sometimes narcotics CAN make headaches worse, even though they're pain killers—go figure.
Yes, Tylenol is O.K. as long as you don't exceed 4,000 mg. a day (about two extra strength Tylenols four times in a 24-hour period). But check with your doctor just to be sure.
People with a drinking history, Hepatitis history, or liver disease should not take any Tylenol unless the amounts are approved by their gastroenterologist AND obstetrician. The codeine is a theoretical risk for cleft lip and palate, etc. in the first trimester.
