Q&A: I'm cramping with this pregnancy and I didn't with my first. Is this normal?

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

I am 5 1/2 weeks pregnant with my second child and my first is now 23 months, I am feeling a little crampy though and I didnt feel this way before, Is this normal or should I be worried? I am not spotting or anything, just crampy and sort of sore. Please let me know, I am driving myself nuts.

Since you've been pregnant before, you have a "used" uterus. That is, it's been stretched out and reformed before and now it's stretching out again. So you're going to feel things differently. Also the ligaments have been stretched, too. As long as there are no other warning signs, such symptoms are perfectly normal. Don't go nuts over this...wait until the kids are driving for that.
