Q&A: How early can you have pregnancy symptoms?

by Marie O'Sullivan, RN

How early on in pregnancy can you have symptoms? My husband and I had sex on day 9 of my cycle, I have a 26 day cycle, today is day 14 of my cycle. I have been very nauseated for 2 days, and having a cramping feeling like you get when you're going to get your period. Could this be early signs, or is it too early?

Although it is hard to wait, the only way to tell for sure if you are pregnant is to wait until you miss a period. Nausea usually occurs at week 6 and ends week 12 of pregnancy. The cramping feeling usually occurs around the time or shortly after you miss your period due to the increase in hormones. I hope this helps--good luck.
