Q&A: I don't know if horomone levels are hereditary and if it matters to my pregnancy.

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

My mom told me she had EXTREMELY low hormone levels during pregnancy. She had to take shots to have a successful pregnancy. Could this be hereditary? I lost a baby in April. I became very faint (similar to an ectopic pregnancy), and my hormones stayed low for about two weeks. I then miscarried. Does this mean I will need early intervention to stay pregnant?

I would recommend an early evaluation and perhaps intervention because you've already lost a pregnancy, not because of your mother's history. See your doctor as soon as you think you're late on a period.
