Q&A: I have concerns on the effects of gestational hypertension to me and my unborn baby.

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

What is Gestational Hypertension and can it be dangerous to me or my unborn child?

This is the new name for pre-eclampsia, or toxemia of pregnancy. Yes, it can be dangerous, but most of the time good prenatal care can get you to a good, mature baby before it gets bad enough. But you will be put into a high-risk group if you were to develop it.
