I am almost 16 weeks pregnant. I was told at my doctors visit 2 weeks ago that when the lab did my blood work, for some reason they forgot to do my RH factor blood test. I am concerned that if I am RH- and baby is RH+ what does this mean so far into pregnancy. I am very concerned. I am going for my AFP and they will be doing the RH factor this Friday. Should I be concerned or not?

If you are Rh- and the baby or the baby's father is Rh+ you will be given RhoGAM at 28 weeks of pregnancy and again within 72 hours of delivery. If you are Rh- and the baby's father is Rh- the baby will also be Rh-. So, to answer your question, the Rh fator is usually found out with your initial bloodwork but since nothing would be done until week 28 it is fine to have it drawn now. The bloodwork results should be back fairly quickly. I would suggest calling your OB to get the results to ease your mind.
