Q&A: What should I do about a varicose vein on my labia?
I have a huge varicose vein on my upper right leg. I am wearing TED anti emboloisim stockings for this. I recently discovered that I have another varicose vein on the right labia (lip) of my vagina. It is located at the very top of the labia close to the clitoris. It is constantly being rubbed with every step I take. It is very swollen and irritated. Is there anything I can do about this? I am 25 weeks pregnant and my next visit to the doctor is three weeks away. Do you have any suggestions until then?
There are girdles you can wear that extend the compression up to and including the vulva (labia, etc.). This type of varicose vein is not usually a source of embolism, but can be miserable in spite of its harmless nature. It will probably go away after delivery, but won’t before. Lay on your left side as much as possible and try the girdle.
