What's on Jennifer Garner's mind these days? Butter, lollipops, and snacks—and her third baby bump, of course.
The Scoop
We love it when celebrities get chatty, especially when they're talking about some of our favorite topics: pregnancy and mommyhood! This time we're learning all about the ups and downs of pregnancy from none other than superstar mom Jennifer Garner. She and actor/director husband Ben Affleck are expecting a new baby sometime this winter, joining their two daughters, Violet and Seraphina. So what's life like when you're a mama-to-be the third time around?"Luckily, I'm just at that ... window when you're pregnant—the magic second trimester—where you feel you're done being nauseous. Right now, I forget that it's there except that I can't have wine at the end of the night," confesses the glowing mom-to-be at a press conference for her new movie, Butter (via the Winnipeg Free Press).
But earlier on, things weren't always so rosy. "We were at a screening in the first trimester, when I was quite green," recalls Garner. "And we were sitting in this restaurant beforehand ... but the smells of the restaurant—I was really like, wooo."
Her solution for first-trimester queasiness? Lollipops. And lots of them. "I had a purse full of lollipops. People were like: 'Do you want dinner? You're just going to have a lollipop?' I was like, 'Nope, just lollipops.' I was like having one after the other after the other. So that was difficult."
Pregnancy Tips
Just as you would expect from such a "been there, done that" kind of mom, Garner has lots of handy tricks up her sleeve for handling pregnancy with ease. Her favorite three? As Garner reveals to USA Today, her basic rules for staying a healthy, happy mama are:
- "Snacks. We have snacks in the car. We have candy in the car."
- "While I'm very good about caffeine, I am also not afraid once or twice a pregnancy to have a half-caf latte. Today is one of those days."
- "Find ways to be as comfortable as possible and just go with it. It's not an illness, being pregnant. I'm in the easiest part of it."
And one last tip from Mrs. Affleck? Skip the super high heels if you want to actually be standing up at the end of the night. At the recent Toronto Film Festival, Garner arrived in more modest heels, something she knows not all fashionista moms would approve of. "I wore the short ones. Rachel Zoe would not be happy." (Victoria Beckham, on the other hand, would be thrilled!)
