Q&A: Is it OK to use a vibrator during pregnancy?

Is it OK to use a vibrator during pregnancy or will it harm my baby?

This is a great question! First off, there is nothing dangerous about using a vibrator in pregnancy. The vibrations cannot hurt the baby.

Sexual activity during pregnancy, whether with a partner or on one's own, is typically considered safe, as long as it doesn't cause pain and you are not having bleeding. Certain moms-to-be with complicated pregnancies may be advised not to "have sex." Moms who are advised not to have sex need to ask whether the restriction has to do with intercourse, or with orgasm. While usually it is intercourse that is restricted, there are situations in which orgasm is not advisable, and your doctor or midwife should tell you that specifically. In those cases you may need to ask your vibrator to take a cold shower and be patient.
