I recently found out I am pregnant for the first time. I called my ob/gyn for my first appointment at the end of this month. With in the last week or so I have been having more frequent pain in my uterus, similar to that I get before getting my period. Sometimes it is so painful at night it wakes me up and I can't go back to sleep. Some times it happens during the day. There is no consistant time it happens. My question is "Is this ok or normal?" and "Can I take anything for the pain?"

I also had these pains when I was first pregnant. I was told that it is normal to feel as if you are about to get your period in the beginning of pregnany due to the changing hormone levels in your body. The feeling does go away. Talk to your OB about what you can take for the pain as every OB has their own recommendations. I hope this helps.
