I'm in early pregnancy. For the last few weeks I have been waking up with itchy hands and other spots. When I start scratching, they swell. Is this normal? Part of the hormone changes?

It sounds hormonal to me. It also could be some type of contact dermatitis. Since pregnancy alters your immune system, you might be allergic to things (fabric softener, perfumes, etc.) now that you never reacted to before. Report it to your doctor, but it can most likely wait until your next appointment.
