How much weight should I gain in my first trimester and so forth? I am seven weeks and a few days pregnant. Although this is my third child, I have had a huge space between my first two children, now 14 and nine years old, and this pregnancy, so it has been a long time.
Thanks.

Here are some basic baby fat facts: The average American woman gains between 25 and 35 pounds during pregnancy, but only seven and a half pounds are attributed to the baby!
Wondering where the rest of that weight goes?
Here's how it measures up:
- Fetus 7.5 lbs.
- Fat, protein and other nutrients 7 lbs.
- Increased blood 4 lbs.
- Increased fluid 4 lbs.
- Uterus 2 lbs.
- Amniotic fluid 2 lbs.
- Breast growth 2 lbs.
- Placenta 1.5 lbs.
- Total 30 lbs.
