Q&A: I am pregnant and my allergies are wreaking havoc on my body.

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

I'm four months pregnant, and my allergies are wreaking havoc on my body. I have no idea what kind of allergies I have, but I wake up every morning vomiting stomach acid and congestion that has drained to my stomach while I sleep. This is making my "morning sickness" unbearable!

Is there anything I can do to reduce the stomach acid and/or congestion, and help reduce the nausea when I wake up in the mornings?

This is a problem vaguely vascillating between morning sickness, gastritis, and upper respiratory conditions or allergies. Ask your doctor to refer you to an allergist he or she can work together with to address this issue. You're not likely to beat this thing on your own.
