Q&A: Do I need an amnio if I got pregnant from donor eggs that are young?
My husband and I just got pregnant using donor eggs. The donor was 23 years old. Now, if I was using my eggs (which are 40 years old), I might want to have an amnio.
Would you suggest an amnio in this situation since the eggs are much younger?
I think an amnio is a concern over risks to genetic mishaps from older eggs. So this is an excellent question. I would say that the chances of a maternal age-related genetic mishap in your case would be the same as that of a 23-year old. In other words, you chose your donor wisely.
