The Spa at the Broadmoor
What started out as a gambling casino in the Great Rocky Mountains in 1891 is now a five-star, five-diamond resort. The Spa at the Broadmoor in Colorado first opened in 1994 with an emphasis on health, well-being, cleansing, and detoxification, and today offer services prenatal and postnatal treatments.
It's not just the moms that come here to enjoy being pampered. Spouses can relax together with the Broadmoor's couple's massage in their special couple's room—complete with fireplace, hand painted ceiling, and quiet space.
"Our facility offers a tranquil setting that assists in a relaxing experience. We offer prenatal massage services and have the body support system that allows an expectant mom to lay face down," says Saundra Quintana, Spa Operations Manager for Broadmoor Spa. "Our menu is diverse enough that it can cater to the multiple services that help an expectant mom feel beautiful and nurtured. Our staff is trained to help educate the expectant mom about future Spa services as well as accommodate their needs while being our guest."
The spa recommends avoiding any form of bodywork during the first trimester and any services throughout pregnancy that will raise your body temperature. "Body wrap services as well as hot stone type services are discouraged. There are points in the shoulder area as well as the feet that assist in the stimulation of the uterus. Deep work in these areas is best avoided," says Quintana.
Quintana adds that expectant mothers should look for a spa that offers peace, serenity, and most importantly, an understanding of their condition. "Therapists within the spa should be able to modify and accommodate the needs of an expectant mom in a comfortable, professional manner."
