Prenatal Pampering: Spas that Cater to Moms-to-Be
The Greenhouse Spa
The environment at The Greenhouse Spa, with locations in New York City and Texas, is constantly being upgraded with new programs such as the Mommy & Baby Week, offered twice a year. During this time, moms with infants aged three to 12 months come for day classes that include baby yoga, baby music, swimming, and baby massage. An internationally recognized photographer is on hand for private photo sessions as well as a nanny service.
The Greenhouse caters to women only and provides cribs, baby food, baby bath tubs, high chairs, and more for moms’ convenience. Evening lectures include pediatricians, psychologists, child development experts, chefs, early childhood nutritionists, and children’s fashion and room designers.
Celebrating its fortieth birthday, The Greenhouse Spa, one of America’s most prestigious spas, has always catered to prenatal women and new moms.
“We feel that this is a time when women need extra care and relaxation, and the increase of interest has been more than noticeable, especially in the last few years,” says Milana Knowles, Vice President of Development for Greenhouse. “We were the first destination spa to offer programs for new moms and babies.”
Prenatal services include maternity massages and facials tailored to pregnant women’s needs. The Greenhouse discourages women having services during the first trimester and recommends not using aromatherapy or glycolic products, or products with harsh chemicals.
When trying to find the right spa, Knowles says, “Women should look for what best suits their needs and lifestyle and well as taking in the reputation of the spa and convenience.”
