Q&A: I had a miscarriage two weeks after my period was due and we had no trouble conceiving.
My husband and I conceived the first month we tried to become pregnant. I miscarried two weeks after my period was due. There was no cramping, and the miscarriage bleeding was the same as a regular period. Should we still wait two regular cycles before trying to conceive again? Does the fact that we conceived so quickly give any indication of future fertililty?
The fact that you conceived so quickly indicates that you had no trouble getting pregnant–the timing is on a case by case basis, though.
I usually recommend that my patients wait out three spontaneous cycles before attempting pregnancy again, just to get all of the previous pregnancy hormonal influences out. I have nothing scientific to back this up with, so if you do get pregnant before the three cycles are up…that’s a good problem.
