Q&A: Is it normal to have tender breasts?Tenderness

by Marie O'Sullivan, RN

I know that breast tenderness is a sign of pregnancy. The top of my breasts are tender, but my nipples are VERY tender. Is this strange? I am taking a pregnancy test this Wednesday. I did not have any breast tenderness at all with my first baby. She passed away recently due to SIDS.

I am sad to hear of your loss and hope you are keeping well. OK, I am sure you took the pregnancy test already but here is my experience anyway. Every pregnancy is different. You will feel some things with one pregnancy and other things with another pregnancy. I also did not have breast tenderness with my first baby but have extreme sensitivity with my current pregnancy.
