Q&A: Is it okay to sleep on your back during pregnancy?
I have read that you should avoid sleeping on your back during pregnancy. I am trying to, but sometimes I wake up on my back. Should I be worried?
I wouldn’t panic if you wake up on your back, it shouldn’t be a problem. Sleeping on your left side, however, is better for your circulation. The concern with laying on your back is that the increased weight of your baby can push against the Vena Cava, which is the large vein that provides blood to the lower part of your body. Restricting this vein causing lower blood pressure, which might lead to nausea.
