August 22, 2007: Children's Metal Jewelry Recall

by BabyZone Editors

This image represents one of three recalled jewelry sets.

Does your child's dress-up box contain these "pretties"? The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) and two individual toy companies are recalling about 14,000 metal jewelry sets and around 7,900 metal charm bracelets.

Recall Reason

Both recalls pertain to the toys containing exess amounts of lead which, if ingested, can be toxic. (Learn more about the dangers of childhood lead poisoning.)

  • All sets are sold in a pink gift box with "TOBY & ME" printed on the front and "TOBY & ME" hangtags attached to the packaging.
  • Sets were sold at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and A.J.Wright from August 2006 through May 2007 for about $8.

Children's Divine Inspiration Charm Bracelets

  • Bracelets have silver-colored charms, including angels, crosses, and hearts, and clear and pink beads that hang from a silver-colored chain.
  • They were sold at dollar stores and other small retail stores nationwide from March 2004 through August 2007 for about $1.
