July 3, 2008: LaJolla Boat Bed and Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle Beds Recall

The lid poses an entrapment and strangulation hazard to young children

by BabyZone Editors

Recall Reason

According to the US Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), Bayside Furnishings is voluntarily recalling over 9,000 of its Youth Bed Toy Chests in two styles: the Lajolla Boat Bed and the Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle Bed. The supports on the toy chest fail to prevent the lid from closing too quickly, posing an entrapment and strangulation hazard to young children. The CPSC received one report of a death involving a 22-month-old boy of Roseville, California.
