Recall Reason
Drugmaker MedImmune has recalled about 4.6 million doses of the nasal swine flu vaccine because they appear to lose potency over time. Of the recalled doses, the majority has already been administered, says the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Federal officials say the doses were strong enough when used in October and November.
What Should Parents Do?
The FDA does not expect the decreased potency to affect the vaccine's protection against the virus, and is not recommending revaccination. This is the second recall of swine flu vaccines due to potency this month.
