Q&A: What are alternate space-saving substitutions for a baby's crib?

I live in a tiny apartment and don't have room for a crib. What are some other solutions for my baby's bed?

Good news! Babies don't need a crib until they're about 3 months old so you have some time to consider your options. In the meantime, bassinets and Moses Baskets are great because they're portable and easy to fit in even the smallest spaces. We're also big fans of co-sleepers. While some couples find the temptation to take Baby into bed hard to resist, a co-sleeper is the next best thing. It is basically a small bassinet that attaches to your bed so Baby is near overnight; it also makes late-night feedings a breeze.

Once Baby is ready, we would tell you to check out the Bloom Alma crib—not only is it a space saver but also it also easily folds up for mobility and storage. You might also take a look at an oval-shaped crib—an innovative option for our space-challenged clients. These can be found everywhere from places like IKEA to specialty stores, with a wide price range. We happen to be fans of the Stokke Sleepi crib. While it's a bit pricy, keep in mind, it is made for use from infancy and then grows with your baby through toddlerhood, eventually becoming a chair. This makes it not only a great space saver but a versatile one, too!
