Q&A: Do baths affect fertility?

by Dr. Gerard M. DiLeo

I feel silly asking, but I'm anxious to get pregnant. My husband and I have been trying for seven months and have had no luck. I have only one ovary and endometriosis. But I'm wondering if there's anything else I might be doing that's keeping me from conceiving. Do baths affect fertility?

Baths shouldn't affect your fertility. But hot baths for your husband may lower his sperm count, which could of course keep you from getting pregnant.

It's far more likely, however, that the endometriosis is what's getting in the way of conception, not a bath or two. If you haven't yet visited with your healthcare provider or with a fertility specialist, now is the time.
