Q&A: I need help understanding semen analysis results.

My husband had a semen analysis and his count was 24, motility was 76%, morphology was 2%. On the latter, my doctor said he would like to see 4%. Prep for IUI was with a sperm count of 20 ml., motility was 96%; and 2% for morphology. What do these results mean? Please explain.

These results indicate mild abnormality of the sperm analysis that may benefit from treatment, and needs to be put in the context of your entire fertility evaluation. Sometimes simple treatment, such as intrauterine insemination, may be helpful.
