November 21, 2007: Boppy Slipcovers Recall

Print

Boppy, maker of the super-popular nursing and support pillow, is voluntarily recalling velvet and boa slipcovers intended for use with the Boppy® Bare Naked, following concerns of choking hazards and unsafe levels of lead.

Nearly a staple for new moms, the Boppy pillow is much-applauded for making feeding, snuggling, and playtime more comfy for parents and babies. But The Boppy Company of Golden, Colorado, is now recalling several varieties of slipcovers, including Boppy Soothing and Boppy Luxe, for their popular Bare Naked model.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commision (CPSC), the zipper pull on the slipcovers can break, posing a choking hazard to young children. In addition, paint on the zippers contains excess levels of lead, which violates the federal lead paint standard. (Learn more about the dangers of childhood lead poisoning here.)
