Q&A: How can we throw a co-ed shower that will be fun for all the guests?

We want to have a co-ed shower. Any tips for making it fun for me, my husband, and all our friends?

The Baby Planners say that a party is a party is a party. If a co-ed shower is what the parents-to-be prefer, then go for it. A few menu adjustments—like switching out the tea sandwiches and quiche for sliders and nachos, and the iced tea for an ice cold brew—are not only easy but also creative and fun. You might even be surprised by how many of the invitees (mother-in-law, co-workers, BFFs) actually prefer to bring their significant other to the celebration, rather than going solo.

We love the idea of a wine and cheese shower, an after-work shower and even a Saturday night couples get together. You might want to consider shelving the classic shower games for the one being played on TV, and wait until after the goodbyes to open gifts, sparing "mixed" company the obligatory oohs and aahs over a bodysuit! But whatever direction your party takes, just remember that general party rules apply: good food, good music, and good hosting equals good times for all.
