Jelly Bean Recipes and Crafts
Jelly Bean Cookies: Mix up your favorite recipe for sugar cookies or use refrigerator dough. Elongate circles of dough into egg shapes. Bake as directed. After your cookies cool, frost with vanilla icing. Give your child a handful of jelly beans to decorate her cookie as she wishes. Enjoy this special treat together!
Jelly Bean Bird Nests: This makes for a great Easter dinner table setting and a fun dessert your children will love! To make the nests, you'll need:
Melt the miniature marshmallows and butter in a double boiler. Stir in the chow mein noodles or pretzel sticks and turn until coated. Then oil or butter your hands and press the noodle/pretzel mixture into the shape of small bird nests. Refrigerate your nests for at least two hours. Finally, drop your jelly beans into their edible nests.
Jelly Bean Creatures: Give your child a piece of paper cut into a jelly bean shape. Let him color this and draw on a face. It could be a person, animal, monster, whatever the child desires. Glue this onto a toilet paper tube. With construction paper, add ears, whiskers, feet, hands, or any other feature your child wishes. After your child completes her project, don't forget to talk about the new jelly bean creature! What is it? Does it have a name? What's its favorite thing to eat? And so on.
