How to Make a Photo Album
What mom doesn't enjoy bragging about their little one? Making this photo album to give away as a gift to grandparents or to share with friends, will help you do that in a stylish way!
-Cardboard (similar in thickness to a cereal box)
-Tape; Hole punch
-Paper and fabric scissors
-Fabric (2 10×6-inch pieces of fabric)
-Paper piercer or push pin
-Two colors of embroidery thread and one needle
-One letter sized sheet of card stock that matches one of the colors of the embroidery thread
-Two sets of screw posts used for photo albums
-5 to 10 sheets of letter-sized white cardstock
Measure and cut two 5×7-inch and four 1×5-inch pieces of cardboard. The thickness of the cardboard should not exceed that standard cardboard used in a cereal box. If the cardboard is thicker, the rest of the project will be a bit more challenging.
Punch two holes in the center, 1 inch from the narrow edges of two smaller pieces of card-board. Place these pieces between a small piece and a larger piece of cardboard with 1/8 inches of space between them. Tape up all the gaps on both sides.
Attach the fabric to the covers of the album using spray adhesive. If you do not feel comfortable using spray adhesive, fusible web (found at most fabric stores) can be used to iron the fabric onto the cardboard. Cut the corners on a diagonal.
On the cork, punch two columns of nine holes 1/2 inch from one another using the paper piercer or push pin. Start 3/4 inches from the edge on the right, and 1 3/4 inches from the edge on the right. Use six strands of embroidery thread to a stitch diagonal. (No knots!)
Thread the embroidery needle with the second color of thread. Stitch the same design, through the same holes, but in the opposite direction. Optional: Try a more personal design such as an initial or a number.
Cut a piece of contrasting cardstock paper that is 2 3/4 x4 7/8 inches. Place the paper over the inside of the cover and 1/8 inches from the edge and mark where the holes are located on the cardboard. Use the circular markings as a guide to punch two matching holes.
Glue the paper, from step 6, 1/8 inches from the edge of the right hand side of the cover. Cut another piece of card stock that is 6 3/4×4 7/8 inches and glue it 1/8 inches from the edge of the opposite side of the cover. It will overlap the smaller card stock.
Cut the sheets of white cardstock down to 6 3/4×4 7/8 inches. Use one of the sheets as a template to cut out the holes on the rest of the pages. This will help in lining them all up. Place the posts in the back cover and add the card stock pages to the album.
Your album is now complete! Use photo corners or photo-safe glue to fill your album with photos. Optional: Add a colored sheet of paper to the front of the album to write down a special message to the recipient or the date of when the photos were taken.
