Find the Right Words
For many parents working on a birth announcement, one of the most difficult tasks is choosing the right words. After all, how can you possibly describe the most beautiful, precious, and perfect baby in the world?
Your best bet is to keep it short and sweet. Birth announcements typically consist of an opening line followed by the baby’s stats. The opening could be as simple as, “We are happy to announce the birth of our baby girl, Stephanie Claire Smith!” (Seriously—
no one faults a new parent for their prose.)
Of course, if you want to get creative, you can open with a clever phrase like, “The bun is out of oven!” Also consider pulling a short verse from a favorite poem, book, or song.
Follow your opening with the date and time of your baby’s birth and his weight and length. You may also want to include your and your partner’s name. (After all, this birth wouldn’t have been possible without you!) Here’s an example:
We are thrilled to announce the birth of our baby boy,
