At the Playground With Someone Special—A Story
A mom blogger on using Disney's new Story app to capture the magic of a very special playdate
For my toddler, nicknamed Saucer Eyes, nothing beats a trip to the playground. But on one warm spring day, the trip was made all the better with a visit by my grandparents—his great grandparents.
My grandparents, immigrants from the former Soviet Union, have always been a major part of my life. My grandmother taught me to read (in English and Russian) and cared for me, day in and day out, while both of my parents worked. My grandfather drove me to and from grade school and impressed my friends by doing handstands in the grass.
Though I lived in different cities during and after college, I settled near my family in the suburbs when I had my first child so that my grandparents could play a major role in his life, too.
There’s a playground that my son loves one that happens to be a short walk from my grandparents’ home and a short drive from mine. The smiles on everyone’s faces on the day of our “great grandparent playdate” at that playground were nothing short of magical … so with my iPhone in hand, I captured some of the joyous moments, over the objections of my camera-shy grandma.
Don’t worry, Babushka, you looked great.
With the help of the new Story app from Disney, I organized and added a narrative to the photos, creating a digital story—one that rhymes.
